Ever wanted to see the 1996 Bulls with prime Lebron playing alongside Michael Jordan?  What if the 1984 Oilers added Connor McDavid? How about the 1998 Yankees with Mike Trout in centerfield?  Want to test a recent trade that happened? Get a first look at how that newly added player may help their new team!

What If? is a new GameSim+ GOLD feature on MyGameSim that lets you tweak either team’s roster in seconds, then run the game simulator with your changes.

Ideas to try

  • LeBron and Jordan on the same court. Open a 1996 Bulls vs. 2016 Cavaliers sim, then use What If to add LeBron James to the Bulls. Run it a few times and see whether a second superstar changes Chicago’s title odds.
  • Mahomes instead of Dilfer. Set up the 2000 Baltimore Ravens (Super Bowl XXXV champs) and exclude Trent Dilfer. Add Patrick Mahomes from a recent Chiefs season and simulate how would a modern passing attack look in that defense-first era?
  • Prime Larry Bird, not late-career Bird. Bird’s last seasons were hobbled by back trouble (he retired after 1992). Sim the 1991 Celtics, exclude the injury-limited Bird, and add Larry Bird from the 1986 championship team. Same legend, very different impact.
  • Flip a trade before the ink dries. NHL: add Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers (or build the Senators without him) and re-run a Panthers matchup from this season. NBA: after a blockbuster move, add Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat and sim them against the Bucks or any contender you want to stress-test.

Where to find it

On the NHL, NFL, NBA, WNBA, and MLB game simulators, pick your home team, away team, and seasons as usual. If you have a GameSim+ GOLD subscription, you’ll see a What If? button next to the other simulation tools.

Click it to open the What If window for that specific matchup. Your changes stay tied to that home/away team and season combination until you clear them.

Exclude players

The What If window shows both rosters side by side. Each player has an Exclude checkbox.

  • Check a name to remove that player from the simulated roster.
  • Great for “what if he was hurt?” or “what if they traded him away?” scenarios.

On MLB, hitters and pitchers are listed separately so you can bench a slugger, sit a starter, or both.

Add players from any team and season

At the top of the window, use the Add Player panel:

  1. Add to — Home or Away
  2. Team — any team in the league
  3. Season — any available year
  4. Player — pick from the dropdown
  5. Click + Add

Added players appear in a list under the appropriate side. You can build cross-era dream teams, plug a current star into a historic lineup, or import a rival’s best player for a fantasy grudge match.

On MLB, the player list includes pitchers (shown as “Name - Pitcher”) so you can add a ace to the staff as well as batters to the lineup.

Apply, simulate, and start over

When your scenario is set:

  • Apply — saves your excludes and adds for this matchup. Close the window and click Submit on the main simulator to run the game.
  • Close — exit without saving (if you haven’t clicked Apply).
  • Clear All — remove all What If changes for this matchup and restore the default rosters.

After you Apply, the What If? button on the main page is highlighted so you know a custom scenario is active.

Who can use it

What If? is included with GameSim+ GOLD (annual subscription). You’ll need to be logged in with an active GOLD account for the sport you’re simulating.
